A Very Historically Important Wakizashi by Busyu Jyu Hiroshige from the Collection of Fujishiro.
Nagasa: 450mm 1 Shaku, 4 Sun, 8 Bu Mei: Busyujyu Hiroshige Jidai: Tensho Koro Width at hamachi: 25mm Thickness: 7mm
This wakizashi is a very desirable sword for any collection as it was in Fujishiro’s own personal collection and the Oshigata of this sword was used in his reference book called Nihon Token Jiten which is illustrated on page 514. Hiroshige was one of the 3 important early smiths of the Shitahara School which was from Hachioji City (40kms West of present Tokyo). This wakizashi has a certificate issued by Fujishiro and also this year in September it was presented to the NTHK Shinsa Team in Sydney headed by Yoshikawa Eiichi Sensei who is the curator of swords for the Japanese Imperial Household Agency and was awarded highest rating of the Shinsa.

Blade: The blade is a nice big solid Hirazukuri with Gunome Hamon and a large Oitame hada (grain) . It has a couple of minor forging flaws, nothing serious. In good old original Japanese polish
Koshirae: Overall this koshirae si in excellent condition. It has a gold Habaki. The Shakudo Tsuba is mokko shape with gold highlighted fan, bat and flower design with a nanako background. Tsuka is wrapped in Doe Skin which has a printed design on it. Menuki are made of shakudo and gold and are in a Centipede design. The Fuchi has a Cherry blossom and a gold Shinto hat design. Kashira is an Oni (demon) with gold eyes and silver horns. Kozuka is copper with a Cherry blossom and horse design. The Saya is of a very good brown ishime Lacquer with a mon.
