The minogame (蓑亀), or 1000 year turtle, is a mythical animal that symbolizes longevity and brings good fortune.
It is usually depicted with a long, feathery tail of seaweed / moss, it is said that the moss growing on the turtle's tail symbolizes old age, which is thought to grow in the turtle’s shell after 500 years.
it is also said that a crane lives 1,000 years, but a tortoise lives
10,000 years.
